5.whigfield – Saturday night.
Sannie Charlotte Carlson (born 11 April 1970), best known as Whigfield and also as Naan, is a Danish Eurodance singer best known for the song “Saturday Night” which was a worldwide hit during the summer of 1994. Singles from her following albums were also very popular across Europe and Asia in the mid 90′s.
She rose to prominence when her single “Saturday Night” became the summer smash hit of 1994, thanks to extensive play in the clubs of the Mediterranean and the fact that it had a dance which many found easy to learn. It was also the single which prevented Wet Wet Wet from reaching a record-equalling 16th week at number 1 in the UK. She became the first ever non-UK or American artist to debut at No.1 in her first week in the UK Singles Chart. Her music was also very successful in Australia, Brazil, Venezuela, Canada, Italy, France, India, the Netherlands, the Nordic countries and The Philippines where it became a smash hit song in the middle of 1994. Along with Ace of Base and Los del Río it is one of the most commercially successful songs of the 1995 Eurodance phenomenon. Her role in the Eurodance scene has been very significant and has played an important role in music coming from Italy and Scandinavia.[citation needed]
Later singles include “Think of You“, “Close To You“, “Last Christmas“, “Gimme Gimme” and “Sexy Eyes“. “Gimme Gimme” and “Sexy Eyes” reached #14 and #6 in Australia, respectively, and they were the only two significant charting hits in that country.
Like the group Milli Vanilli, Whigfield was accused of not singing her own songs. This was because she did all her live performances lip synching (miming to a backing track). “Saturday Night” was produced by Larry Pignagnoli and Davide Riva, two Italian producers known for a variety of Eurodance projects, who usually worked with vocalists such as Daniela Galli (better known as Dhany), Annerley Gordon (aka Ann Lee) and Sandy Chambers. Another Pignagnoli project, Ally & Jo, featured a similar voice to Whigfield’s but different faces in the CD cover and led to the accusations.
In October 2007, Whigfield released All In One, a greatest hits album with past hits being resung with newer, modern beats. The album included updated versions of “Think Of You”, “Gotta Getcha”, “Sexy Eyes”, “Givin All My Love”, “No Tears To Cry”, “Was A Time”, “Close To You”, “Out Of Sight”, “Another Day”, and her biggest hit “Saturday Night”. The album also includes two new songs, “Rainbow” and “Right in the Night”, a cover version of Jam & Spoon’s track. On 18 December, she released her first single in three years, “Think of You”, which contains mixes from Mathieu Bouthier & Muttonheads and Gabry Ponte. A second single “Right In The Night” was released in May 2008, which peaked at #4 on the Eurodance.com Interactive Chart. A third single was released “Saturday Night (Klm Mixes)” in late 2008 which contains 20 new mixes.
However successful Whigfield became on the international marketplace, the only place where she has yet to achieve major commercial success, is the United States. Although she placed both “Saturday Night” and “Another Day” on the Billboard Hot Dance Music/Club Play chart in 1995, with “Night” peaking at #19 and “Day” coming in at #21, respectively. In the years 1994-1997 Whigfield sold more records than Oasis and Blur combined,although in a 1998 interview she accepted that she was not a bigger influence on mainstream music than either band.

4.Basic Element – The Ride.
Basic Element is a Swedish eurodance group formed in 1993. The group returned in 2005 and is still releasing new material.
From Malmö in Sweden the group originally consisted of rapper/singer Peter Thelenius (Petrus), and keyboardist Cesar Zamini, accordion Branko Nuss, and vocalist Zetma Prembo. Later vocalists were Saunet Sparell, Marie Fredriksson (not to be confused with the Roxette singer Marie Fredriksson) and Andrea Myrander. Currently, the band exists out of Peter Thelenius and Jonas Wesslander.
Peter Thelenius and Cesar Zamini started the group in 1992, searched for a singer through the employment office and found Zetma. In 1993, they made a record deal with EMI Records, thus releasing their first single “Move Me“. In 1994, “Move Me” was followed up by hits like “The Promise Man“, reaching number 1 in the Swedish charts.
In 1995, Zetma left the band (because of her pregnancy) and Saunet Sparell replaced her. The new album “The Ultimate Ride” (including the singles “The Ride” and “The Fiddle“) was released. Also, Peter and Caesar started to have disagreements about the band’s future, this causing Cesar to leaving the band. Peter has since then continued with the band itself. The group’s third album (“Star Tracks”) sounded and became more like the 1970s disco. Then Sparell left because, she sais, Thelenius only cared about being famous,[1] so the project was put on ice. In 1997, Peter released a solo album (“Trust Then Pain”) under the name “Petrus”. In 1998, Basic Element returns with a new album (which includes the original eurodance sound) and Marie Fredriksson (not to be confused with the singer of Roxette) as the new singer.
From 1999, the two members took a long break from Basic Element, but in 2005, the group returned with a remake of their 1995 hit “This must be a dream“, and with Mathias Olofson as a new member of the band. In February 2006, they released a new single called “Raise the Gain” with a slightly different sound. On 7 February 2007, the group released its comeback album “The Empire Strikes Back“. Later in 2007, Marie Fredriksson left the group and was replaced by Andrea Myrander as a singer and Jonas Wesslander as a rapper. In 2008 another album, called “The Truth“, was released. The band has also released a new song called “Got U Screaming” (2010). In January 2011, it was announced on the group’s home page that Andrea Myrander had officially left. A few months later, in May 2011, a new single called “Turn Me On” was announced during a concert. It was posted on YouTube on May 27.
In April 2012 Basic Element signed a deal with a Swedish record label called Family Tree and on April 24 a song called “Shades” (featuring Max C and Taz) was posted on YouTube. It was announced that it will be released as a single in June. The group is still lacking a female singer and the song is thus only featuring male vocals. The single is possibly also marking a change of style as it differs significantly from other material released after the comeback in 2005. A YouTube commenter describes it as a mixture of Avicii, Swedish House Mafia and “We Found Love” by Rihanna and Calvin Harris. Vocalist Max C was featured on Swedish House Mafia member Axwell’s single “I Found You”. Basic Element will also be the opening act for Avicii on the yearly “Russens dag” event at Tusenfryd, Norway.

3.Masterboy – Is this the love.
Masterboy was a German eurodance group that formed in 1990. They are one of the most representative group for 90′s “high energy” eurodance phenomenon, when this genre crossed over from dance clubs to the pop music arena. Famous songs by Masterboy include “Feel the Heat of the Night“, “Anybody“, “I Got to Give It Up“, “Generation of Love“, “Everybody Needs Somebody” and “Is This The Love“.

1.MC Sar & The Real Mccoy-Another Night.
Real McCoy, originally known as M.C. Sar & The Real McCoy, is a German Eurodance group, best known for their early ’90s singles “Another Night” and “Run Away”, which were both Top 10 hits worldwide.
Real McCoy is the brainchild of German rapper and producer Olaf “O-Jay” Jeglitza. After having released a few limited edition 12″ singles in Germany under various project names (e.g. The Alliance, The Admirers on his own label “Freshline Records” (founded 1988 by Frank “Quickmix” Hassas & O-Jay), their first major breakthrough came in December 1989 when a cover of the Technotronic hit “Pump Up The Jam” went to #16 on the German singles chart. Juergen Wind joined the production team before the single was released.
At this point, the act was faceless so for the second single, the original track “It’s On You”, singer Patsy Petersen and ‘rapper’ Shampro were enlisted to join the group. O-Jay felt uncomfortable being the frontman, so Shampro mimed O-Jay’s raps. The single, on its release in 1990, climbed to #11 in Germany. An album On The Move was also released.
They released 4 more singles (“Don’t Stop”, “Make A Move”, “Let’s Talk About Love”, and “No Showbo”) but none was able to achieve the same success of “It’s On You” or “Pump Up The Jam – Rap”. So things went a little quiet for a while until they hooked up with David Brunner, Head of A&R at Hansa Records, in 1992. Their production company “Freshline” signed an exclusive contract with Hansa at the end of 1992. Brunner was impressed by a song called “Another Night” but was dissatisfied with Petersen’s vocals.
Convinced he had a hit on his hand, Brunner persuaded Freshline to let Hansa release a new version of “Another Night” with Petersen (miming Karin Kasar’s vocals) and O-Jay to become the male part of the duo “M.C. Sar & The Real McCoy”. Another Night was a #18 hit in Germany in 1993 and all over continental Europe, followed by the album Space Invaders but then Clive Davis at Arista Records in the U.S. showed some interest. He had already had success taking Ace of Base to the States and now wanted to do the same with a re-branded Real McCoy.
A new video was made, another singer Vanessa Mason was found to form a trio and the single shot to #3 on the Billboard Hot 100 in late 1994, also reaching #1 on Radio & Records magazine’s CHR/Pop Airplay chart. It was also re-released in the United Kingdom, where it had only reached #61 the previous year. This time it was far more successful and within three weeks had climbed to #2, selling more than 312,000 copies and also reached #1 in Australia. The follow-up, “Automatic Lover”, reached #52 on the Billboard Hot 100, #10 in the UK, and #5 in Australia. “Run Away” became the follow-up single to “Automatic Lover”; it became the group’s second #1 single in Australia and also got to #3 in the U.S. in early 1995 (and #6 in the UK). A freshened-up U.S. album called Another Night was released, with some new tracks, also with vocals by Karin Kasar, and Real McCoy were awarded Best New Act at the American Music Awards in 1995.
“Love and Devotion” was a #11 hit in the UK in April of that year, and “Come and Get Your Love”, a cover of the song by Redbone, peaked at #19 on both sides of the Atlantic ending a great year for the act. Shortly afterwards, Petersen left the act and was replaced by Lisa Cork.
The album “Another Night” is an adaptation of the German release “Space Invaders” but with fewer eurodance tracks (which were completely left unfeatured) than the original German album and a few new down-tempo tracks such as “If You Should Ever Feel Lonely [Deep In The Night]“, and the singles “Come And Get Your Love” and “Sleeping With An Angel”.
Two of those tracks “Streetfighter” and “Je Suis Amoreux” can be found on the Canadian release of “The Remix Album”.
In 1997, Real McCoy returned with a new single and album called “One More Time”, this time with Mason and Cork actually performing on the record. The album was co-written with American songwriter/producer Brent Argovitz who brought Cork into the band. The single itself was released in many nations around the world on vinyl and CD-maxi singles with a total of 18 remixes amongst all the releases. “One More Time” (the single) peaked at #27 on the Billboard Hot 100. It became a Top 20 hit on both Rhythmic/Dance format radio and on the Hot Dance Club Play chart. However, “One More Time” completely missed the UK Singles Chart. A few other singles were released such as a cover of the Shania Twain hit, “If You’re Not In It For Love (I’m Outta Here)” and “I Wanna Come With You” (which “Bubbled Under” the Hot 100). The album also featured a track penned by Billy Steinberg and Chris Kusch provided the piano melody on the album track “Take A Look At Your Life”. Unfortunately One More Time (the album) failed to replicate the success of “Another Night”. Before long the group disbanded.
Although the group decided to stop recording together, a completely new line-up were hired to form a “new” Real McCoy in 1999, much like the producers of 2 Unlimited had done a year earlier. Jason, Gabi and Ginger recorded a brand new version of the 1990 hit “It’s On You” still featuring O-Jay’s raps in an updated form, which was released only in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. In 2000, they also released a new song titled “Hey Now”, the first Real McCoy tune to feature a rap not using O-Jay. Both singles failed to chart.
O-Jay went on to produce and re-mix for several German artists such as Yvonne Catterfeld, B3, Daniel Küblböck and ATC.
In 2003, O-Jay released a solo CD single under the A45 record label (Germany) with several mixes of his winning eurodance formula called “Nite to Remember”, a song very reminiscent of the Real McCoy tracks with his rap and female vocals.
Several “greatest hits” compilations have been issued in recent years, and O-Jay started his own weblog in 2004, in which he finally revealed that the group’s biggest hits had in fact been performed by Karin Kasar. He has also speculated that yet another Real McCoy group was being lined up without his permission, but so far they have not been launched. O-Jay still performs under the name Real McCoy and collaborated with Ich Troje to represent Poland at the Eurovision Song Contest 2006. The song, “Follow My Heart”, failed to qualify for the grand final.
In early 2007, O-Jay started a new record label, Phears Music, with a distribution partnership with SonyBMG in Germany. He also released a brand new physical and digital single “People Are Still Having Sex”, a cover of Latour’s 1980′s house hit, in anticipation of a new album and tour for Real McCoy.
In July 2008, “Another Night” was listed on place 91 in “The Billboard Hot 100 All-Time Top Songs” list. In late 2008, O-Jay inked a new exclusive deal with Sony Music Germany for Real McCoy.
In July 2009, Real McCoy performed in Halifax, Canada and Toronto, Canada with the band formation of O-Jay, Debbie, and Gemma. These were their first set of performances in over a decade and also used live vocals on backing instrumental tracks. The setlist consisted of “One More Time”, “Run Away”, “Come And Get Your Love”, “Two Hearts” (the new single), and “Another Night”.
In August 2009, Real McCoy performed in Engelberg, Switzerland (DJ BoBo and Friends concert).
