1Ciucas Mountains are part of the southern branch of the Eastern Carpathians and due to their geological constitution, shows similarities Ceahlau and Bucegi Massif.Ciucas is between 45 ° 25 ‘and 45 ° 35′ north latitude and 25 ° 55 ‘and 26 ° 4′ east longitude and occupies a fairly narrow range to other mountain units (approximately 200 km2), it is individualized but clear from the neighboring mountains, through their characters.
2Limits to the surrounding mountains are usually represented by rivers that encircle it as a ring, creating an elevation of about 1000 m from the maximum height of the solid.Looked at more closely, Ciucas is so well defined by units of the surrounding mountain valleys or color by depression. Telejenelul upper lip, Dalghiul, Tesla and Little Branch (tributary of Tarlung), plus key depression, emphasizing its personality surrounding him. Only towards southwest, Grohotisu mountains with mountain promontory Babesu seem to compete with him height (1750 m), but their peaks aspect of its slow! distinguished than Ciucas.
3In the mountainous region east of the Prahova Valley, Ciucas by altitude of over 1900 meters and the morphological appearance, is a marked geographical personality. He stands out from the surrounding mountain heights general who insist on 1 400-1 500 m, and attracts attention from afar, especially as it is bordered by rocky cliffs. Both the plain Brasov Depression and how Intorsura Buzau Ciucas seems a real stone castle dominating peaks severely curled, shorter, the surrounding mountains. South, his look seems less massive but notched ridges and prominent tip of Zagan Ciucas are as similar to the ruins of a medieval castle. From any part of the watch, between the valleys of mountainous mentioned takes place in three stages, with varying altitudes which also correspond to geological differences evident. The landscape of rounded towers with rocks in curious forms is characteristic conglomerate and is found everywhere where these rocks occur in height, in Ciucas as in Bucegi and Ceahlau.
4Ciucas overall orographic knot is the main watershed waters Curvature Carpathians. It consists of two well individualized peaks: Peak Bratocea with NE-SW direction, held between the top Ciucas (1954 m) and Bratocea (1272 m), and Peak-Zaganu Gropsoarele with NW-SE direction, separated by Beer Valley. The two peaks, the more prominent as they are lined with steep rocky west, are connected by height of about 1600 m which is a broad saddle (Chirusca).Ciucas valleys have radial directions, some heading for the south, the key depressions and Poiana off, others to the north and east by the valleys Dalghiului Basca and others westward to the valley Tarlung.
5The peaks and valleys harmoniously woven Ciucas Cross focuses its contrasts within striking rocks and towers from vertical to fast forested slopes and glades tapsanele extend until the beds lined streams, all combined in a charming landscape, unique.

1Sibiu is a city in Transylvania, Romania located some 215 km north-west of Bucharest, the city straddles the Cibin River, a tributary of the river Olt. Now the capital of Sibiu County, between 1692 and 1791 and 1849-1865 Sibiu was the capital of the Principality of Transylvania.
The first official record referring to the Sibiu area comes from 1191, when Pope Celestine III confirmed the existence of the free prepositure of the German settlers in Transylvania, the prepositure having its headquarters in Sibiu, named Cibinium at that time.A large part of German settlers were fugitives, convicts and poor people looking for lands and opportunities.
2
In the 14th century, it was already an important trade centre. In 1376, the craftsmen were divided in 19 guilds. Sibiu became the most important ethnic German city among the seven cities that gave Transylvania its German name Siebenbürgen (literally seven cities), and it was home to the Universitas Saxorum, the assembly of Germans in Transylvania.During the 18th and 19th centuries, the city became the second and later the first most important centre of Transylvanian Romanian ethnics. The first Romanian-owned bank had its headquarters here (The Albina Bank), as did the ASTRA (Transylvanian Association for Romanian Literature and Romanian’s People Culture). After the Romanian Orthodox Church was granted status in the Habsburg Empire from the 1860s onwards, Sibiu became the Metropolitan seat, and the city is still regarded as the third most important centre of the Romanian Orthodox Church. Between the Hungarian Revolution of 1848 and 1867 (the year of the Ausgleich), Sibiu was the meeting-place of the Transylvanian Diet, which had taken its most representative form after the Empire agreed to extend voting rights in the region.
3
After World War I, when Austria-Hungary was dissolved, Sibiu became part of Romania; the majority of its population was still ethnic German (until 1941) and counted a large Romanian community, as well as a smaller Hungarian one. Starting from the 1950s and until after 1990, most of the city’s ethnic Germans emigrated to Germany. Among the roughly 2,000 who have remained is Klaus Johannis, who is currently mayor of Sibiu City.
