It’s fair to say that TNT was expecting some big things from its debut of “Dallas” and while it was not the same show watched be over 90 million people at one point decades ago, it still scored an audience for its series premiere Wednesday that was better than any other new cable series launch so far this year.
Overall, roughly 6.9 million people tuned in to watch J.R. Ewing back on Southfork Ranch, and of this group 1.93 million of them were in the 18-49 demographic. For those of you who love demo ratings, this would have put it at about a 1.6, which was better than most primetime network shows Wednesday.
While this is the most-watched series premiere for TNT since “Rizzoli & Isles” launched with 7.6 million viewers in 2010, both it and “Falling Skies” in 2011 each scored better numbers when it comes to demo numbers. All in all, though, this is a strong start to a series that the network would ultimately love to see stick around for years to come.
Anybody seen the premiere ? How is it ?
